Sapphire Group is one of the largest wind power producers in Pakistan with over 200 MWs of wind assets in operation. The projects are located in the Jhimpir wind corridor, around 90 kms north east of Karachi.

The group’s first project had a capacity of 52.8 MW and was developed with 1.6 xle model GE turbines and 100% debt provided by DFC (formerly OPIC), USA. This was DFC’s first investment in Pakistan’s wind sector and the first wind project in Pakistan to opt for an upfront tariff.

The project was constructed and commissioned in a record period of 13 months in November 2015.
